An ideal way to be present is to do a little extra from home. Nothing wrong with that.

And I’m not talking about the glamour shoots from influencers on Instagram. While they are so beautiful to scroll through, not everyone has the perfect white wall or catalogue worthey bed setting  aheem, me as I am living through renovations. I don’t even think i have one complete painted wall

All aboard the side hustle express.

  • Online research/ surveys.  These can be a grind. But if you fit into the demographic that companies are after you can get up $50 per survey. And you can do them on your phone.
  • Etsy.  Tried and tested market[lace. Etsy is a boom of homemade crafts, digital content and even second hand items. If you have a creative flair, setting up an Etsy store is quick and easy.
  • Ebay. Another tried and tested avenue Ebay is a dedicated selling platform for you to sell. So anything that isn’t bolted to your floor is up for sale. Second hand baby and kids clothes of high quality sell so well on this site. If they have grown out of it and it’s just taking up space GO FOR IT. Take high quality photos and upload and list directly from your phone.
  • Local facebook marketplace, Buy swap sell groups. Garage sales are a bit of a hit and miss now, especially while we are still hesitant with Covid. But Facebook groups that specialise in selling are excellent. Post up good quality photos to make your listing pop and be reasonable with your price. This option is especially good for bric a brac and heavy items that aren’t suitable for ebay say clothing doesn’t do so well on these groups other than local school uniforms.
  • On the same subject of local selling pages. Can you bake or Cook?  Most of us mere mortals struggle at birthday parties creating the perfect cake. If you have the time and skills, post up your skills on a local Facebook group, or make your own page and post up past creations. Offer tastings of your favourite flavours, and offer plates and napkins to go with the cake. Make it a complete package. Or local honey, marmalade, jams and preserves. This can even be sold at local markets.
  • Flowers and Plants. If you have a beautiful garden and the space to set up a little potting station, why not offer cuttings or fresh cut flowers. Advertise on social media or at a marketplace. Plants we know are essential to a happy healthy home. Add a little personal flair to your cuttings by downloading a fact sheet to add with them. A little information is a really simple way to just up sell your product.
  • Ironing. OMG who hates ironing. Me, I do. I hate it with a passion. But if you enjoy it and can do it at naptime with a show playing there are plenty of people that are going to outsource this horrendous job. Get a good quality steam iron and you are good to go. You can charge up to $30 to $50 a basket. Think of it this way. If it takes you a full hour to iron a basket that is one hour of work. That hour is worth $30.
  • Home daycare. Well you’re already at home aren’t you?  Offer a few other families that you may know from mothers group or playgroups a few hours a week for helping them out. They pay you. It’s a family daycare. You get more playmates for your little one and offers a great time at home. Be aware you are required to hold a CPR certificate, working with children’s certificate. Insurance policies must be up to date and other requirements.

There you go, 8 side hustles to help with that extra Doh-ra-me to get you on a vacation.

Happy Hustle.
